Baisakhi (Punjab) - 13th April 2010

The harvest festival marks the beginning of a New Year. People in Punjab leave no chance to celebrate the festival. Famous Bhangra and Giddha dance are performed by enthusiasts. Also, fairs, like Chhapar fair, Jarag Fair etc are organized, following the mythological sags.

Bohag Bihu (Assam ) - 14th April 2010

It is one of the major festivals, celebrated in Assam. The seven day festival is followed with a number of rituals. 'Garu Bihu falls on the 1st day following Manush Bihu on the 2nd day. Assamese men and women enjoy the festival with dancing, singing and relishing at the tasty 'Pithaas'

Vishu ( Kerala) - 15th April, 2010

This major festival in Kerala welcomes the year of prosperity. It falls according to the traditional Malayalam Calendar and is largely followed by Keralites, irrespective of gender or age. Women engage themselves in following the custom of preparing 'Kani', made up of bell-metal, palm-leaf manuscript, flowers from Konna Tree, coins, jack-fruit etc. Devotes view Vishu Kani, such that they be blessed with good fortune.

Mahavirji Fair (Rajasthan) - 24th April to 30th April, 2010

This popular fair is dedicated to the divine deity positioned at Mahavirji Temple in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The Fair is announced annually from Chaitra Shukla Ekadasi to Baisakh Krishna Dwitiya (according to Hindu Festival Calendar). Festival rituals and evening Aarti on the bank of Gambhiri River are major attractions. Devotees also address the fair as Rath Yatra.
