Lippa is situated close to the the bank of Taiti stream, 14 km from Jangi in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. It appears that it has been an important centre for Buddhism since a long time now. The monastery was initially founded by the revered astrologer, Lama Devarama, however, it took efforts from the side of his son to complete the monastery.

The monastery is home to three temple. Out of these three temples, two stock volumes of the sacred Kangyur and Tangyur scriptures. The third and the last temple is the 'Goldang Chakodar'.

Kinnaur
Lying on the Indo Tibet border, Kinnaur is pretty much influenced by the Buddhist cult of the Tibet. This is despite the fact that the majority of the people living here are Hindus. Infact, what is even more surprising is that Hinduism and Buddhism seems to have blend remarkably well in this region.

As a district, Kinnaur is not as well known as other districts of Himachal Pradesh. However, it is home to approximately 33 Buddhist monasteries and temples. The Nyingma-pa, Drug-pa and Geluk-pa sects are all amply represented.

Kinnaur has Recong Peo as its district headquarters and Kalpa as its main village. Quiet a few accommodation options are available at Kalpa for the conveninece of tourists.
