Buddhist Highlights in Hongkong : Wong Tai Sin Temple | Po Lin Monastery | Chi Lin Nunnery

Chi Lin Nunnery

One of the hidden attractions of Hong Kong, Chi Lin Nunnery is located in Diamond Hill. It was first founded in the year 1930 as a retreat for Buddhist nuns. Later, in 2000, the temple was rebuilt making use of traditional Tang Dynasty (618-907AD) architecture. The temple was made up entirely of timber held together by wooden brackets. No metal, not even a single nail was used in the construction work. Infact, till date, it is the biggest handcrafted timber building in the world.
