On a Shopping Spree in Delhi

Every year whenever my first cousin visits my place, we set out for an exciting shopping spree in various markets of Delhi. Its not that we only go for brand shopping but also love to explore the stuffs which are available in the traditional markets of the city as our regular wardrobes.

But, this time the occasion was different and big. Actually, it was my cousin's wedding. So, we decided to visit some of the best shopping zones in Delhi such as Chandni Chowk, Sarojini Nagar, Delhi Haat and some glamorous shopping malls located within city's territory.

At first, we visited the famous Chandni Chowk market, located in old Delhi area. It is the oldest and busiest market of Delhi and encompasses several by-lanes. These narrow alleys are dotted with various large size and small shops which are stuffed with items like clothes, jewelry, footwears, zardozi items and laces etc. Our main aim was to purchase the wedding lehenga. So, we directly entered to Katra Neel and bought a beautiful baby pink colour lehenga-choli, worth Rs 17, 000. Then, we moved to Kinari bazaar for some jewelry shopping. From here we purchased white silver necklace and matching bangles. One piece of advice, never visit Chandni Chowk on Sunday as the entire market remain close.

Next day, we visited the popular Sarojini Nagar, often called as SN market for some more wedding shopping. Sarojini Nagar market is one of the oldest and cheapest market of Delhi. It is the most favored place of Delhiites as the market is dotted with numerous large sized showrooms which displays international and local brands. But, the main crux of this market are its street side shops which sells clothes of all sizes, designs and colors, foot wears, colorful bags, accessories etc. So, we checked in to a footwear shop and purchased four pairs of stiletto, two pair of mojris and one pair of Kolapuri sandals.

Later on, we moved to Delhi Haat, which is a fine blend of both food plaza and craft bazaar. It is located at the hub of South Delhi, on the Sri Aurobindu Marg, opposite to the INA market and encompasses nearly 62 permanent and make shift stalls of various states. These stalls are stuffed with embellished camel hide footwear, sophisticated fabric and drapery, gems, beads, traditional jewelry, brass ware, metal crafts, and silk and wool fabrics etc.

After exploring all these local bazaars, we proceeded for some brand shopping at one of the most glamorous malls of the city known as Ansal Plaza. This mall is built at Hudco place in Andrews Ganj. The mall is a perfect exemplar of modern architecture and offers designer clothes of some of the best brands like Nike, Adidas, Puma, Marks and Spencer and exquisitely designed jewelry. So, to purchase my dress, I went to Meena Bazaar outlet available in Ansal Plaza. From there I bought a beautiful zardosi saree in aqua blue color.

And with that my shopping ends up.
